Mapping Irish
Media: Critical Explorations,
edited by John Horgan, Barbara O'Connor and Helena Sheehan, surveys a
wide field of Irish media studies within the context of global media
studies. It was recently published by University College Dublin Press
with most chapters written by academics in the School of Communication
at Dublin City University. It is divided into three sections:
production, representation and reception, although analyses cross-cut
these boundaries. Chapters deal with such topics as political economy
of Irish print and broadcast media, film policy, internet, reporting of
crime, war and peace, science and technology, masculinity, television
drama, reality television. For more information: http://www.ucdpress.ie/ucdpress/display.asp?isb=9781904558835&
