CM599 : Post-Graduate Students' Support Module(s)
Scope and Aims of this Module :
The core aim is a series of sessions which will offer support and guidance to the
School's PG research students across the various aspects of their research practice,
including core theories, methods, organisation and management dimensions.
One key objective is to help shorten or facilitate the multiple learning curves
facing PG students in their isolated/individual efforts within this broad
comm/media studies field.
Sessions are based on the special areas of expertise of School staff and/or draw on their own experience in the conduct of postgrad (or other) research projects. They cover topics concerned with explicit knowledge (e.g. centred on specific theories, themes, research methods or tools) or on tacit knowledge (e.g. based on the presenters' own ‘learning by doing’ related to prior PG or other research practice), effective writing strategies, research planning, organisation and management issues, etc.
